DIGITAL MALAWI PROJECT

Bengolnet, in joint venture with Bengol-Tele Construction Company, has been contracted by the Government of Malawi through the Public Private Partnership Commission to provide internet connectivity to public institutions across the country under the Digital Malawi Program Phase 1. Supported by the International Development Association of the World Bank, the project addresses issues such as:

  • Limited availability,
  • Poor quality, and prohibitive cost of mobile internet and other ICT services.

Bengolnet is committed to participating fully in the Government’s efforts to bridge the digital divide in Malawi.

MTL OFC & Copper Backbone Project

Completed in partnership with Huawei, this project established a robust optical fiber and copper backbone across 613 km.

MTL OFC Backbone (304 km)

The 304 km fiber backbone from Mzuzu to Songwe was successfully deployed to enhance regional connectivity.

Airtel Fiber Project (304 km)

This project extended fiber infrastructure for 304 km between Songwe and Mzuzu, improving network coverage in the region.

Airtel Fiber Project (117 km)

Completed over 117 km from Chirimba to Zobue, bolstering cross-border connectivity.

BNL International Link OFC

A 112 km fiber link from Blantyre to Zobue was developed to strengthen international connections.

Airtel Fiber Project (87 km)

Fiber infrastructure covering 87 km across Blantyre Metro and KIA was completed, enhancing urban network performance.

TOTAL OFC DEPLOYED

A total of 3,637 kilometers of optical fiber cable (OFC) has been successfully deployed through a series of major infrastructure projects. These installations span across various regions, reinforcing both national and international communication networks. The fiber network enhances internet speed and reliability, facilitating seamless data transmission across urban and rural areas. Additionally, it strengthens cross-border connectivity, enabling better access to regional markets and global digital resources, while supporting businesses, educational institutions, and communities in fostering economic and social growth.
